Registration continues for two classes this month offered by the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s North Hawaii Education and Research Center.
All classes will be at the center, 45-539 Plumeria St. in Honokaa.
• “Introduction to Oral Histories and Genealogies” with Laurie Mengel will provide participants with the practical knowledge and tools to conduct oral histories and define one’s role as a historian in collecting them.
Classes are 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 29-Oct. 22. Tuition is $65.
• Participants in “Basic Grant Writing” with Jeani Navarro will learn about the grant writing process, how to write a compelling statement of need, and learn what funders are looking for in grant proposals.
A certificate will be given upon completion of the course.
The workshop is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Tuition is $75.
